CHAPTER 1: THE VIDEO THAT STOPPED THE WEDDING

The ballroom fell into a suffocating silence.
Every eye locked onto the maid’s shaking hands as she held up her phone.
“Play it,” someone whispered.
The groom—Ethan—felt his pulse pounding in his ears.
The maid tapped the screen.
And then—
The video rolled.
Clear as day.
The bride, Vanessa, stood near the bar just minutes earlier… glancing over her shoulder… then discreetly slipping two small white pills into Ethan’s glass of orange juice.
Gasps erupted across the room.
“No…” Ethan breathed, his voice hollow.
Vanessa’s face drained of color.
“This is fake,” she snapped quickly. “It’s edited. She’s lying!”
But the video kept playing.
Showing Vanessa stirring the drink with a straw… smiling… then walking away as if nothing had happened.
The timing.
The angle.
The clarity.
It wasn’t fake.
Ethan slowly turned to her.
“…Why?”
Vanessa’s composure cracked for just a second.
Then she straightened.
“You don’t understand,” she said tightly.
“Then explain it,” he demanded.
The guests murmured, tension rising like a storm ready to break.
Vanessa’s eyes darted around the room.
