Chapter 5: A New Beginning

Weeks later, the mansion stood quiet again—but different.
Not colder.
Stronger.
It was mine, fully and undeniably.
But I didn’t move back in right away.
Instead, I rebuilt something else first—myself.
I restored my mother’s gardens. Reopened the estate’s charity foundations. Reconnected with the life I had forgotten while trying to fit into Adrian’s world.
One evening, as the sun dipped behind the hills, my father joined me on the terrace.
“Regret anything?” he asked.
I thought about it.
The betrayal.
The pain.
The rain.
Then I shook my head.
“No,” I said. “Because now I know exactly who I am.”
He smiled faintly. “And who is that?”
I looked out at the horizon, calm and unshaken.
“The woman no one will ever underestimate again.”
Behind me, the doors of the mansion opened—not as a prison, but as a beginning.
