They separated us instantly.
Nathan was restrained.
Celeste tried to run.
She made it three steps.
That was all.
I watched as they brought her down—gracefully, efficiently, like they had done it a thousand times before.
“No—no, this is a mistake!” she screamed.
But mistakes don’t arrive in helicopters.
Mistakes don’t come with encrypted warrants.
Mistakes don’t already know everything.
One of the agents approached me, his expression shifting the moment he saw my condition.
“Ma’am… we’re getting you medical attention immediately.”
I shook my head.
“Later.”
My eyes stayed locked on Nathan.
“You said no one would believe me,” I told him.
“You were right.”
I reached up slowly… and unclasped the sapphire pendant.
“But they don’t need to believe me.”
