CHAPTER 3: THE PRICE OF REVENGE

He came to see me one last time.
No tuxedo. No ring. No warmth.
“Tell me why,” he said.
So I did.
I told him everything—the nights I cried, the anger I carried, the plan I swore I’d finish.
And then I told him the truth I never meant to admit.
“I didn’t expect to fall in love with you.”
He let out a bitter laugh.
“That doesn’t fix what you did.”
“No,” I whispered. “But it changed me.”
For a moment… I thought he might soften.
But then he stepped back.
“You don’t get forgiveness just because you regret it.”
