Chapter 1: The Fall of Power

It froze.

Damian’s hand trembled slightly at his side, though he tried to hide it. Just seconds ago, he had been untouchable—wealthy, arrogant, in control. Now, the word “Boss” echoed in his skull like a death sentence.

“Elena…?” he forced out, his voice cracking despite himself. “What kind of joke is this?”

Elena didn’t answer immediately.

She walked past him.

Each step was steady. Unhurried. The same woman who had been shoved onto the sofa moments ago now carried a presence that filled the entire room.

The executive—Mr. Hale—followed one step behind her.

“Miss Elena owns 62% of the parent group funding your entire operation,” he said calmly, glancing at Damian like he was already irrelevant. “Correction… owned.”

Damian blinked. “Owned?”

Elena stopped.

Turned slightly.

Her eyes met his—not angry, not emotional… just cold.

“I just sold your future,” she said.

The silence cracked.

Veronica dropped her handbag. The gold ring inside rolled across the marble floor, stopping near Elena’s heel.

“No—no, you can’t do that,” Damian snapped, panic rising. “You need me. That project—”

“That project,” Elena cut in, “was mine before you ever saw it.”

She bent down, picked up the ring, and held it between her fingers.

“You didn’t take anything from me,” she added softly. “You just revealed what you were.”

Then she dropped the ring into a nearby glass of champagne.

A quiet plink.

“Terminate all contracts,” she said to Mr. Hale.

“Yes, Boss.”

“And blacklist them.”

A beat.

“Globally.”

Damian staggered back like he’d been hit.

“No—wait, Elena, listen—we can fix this—”

But she was already walking away.
