CHAPTER 1: THE FALL OF PRIDE

The silence didn’t just fill the air—it crushed it.

Every guest stood frozen, champagne glasses trembling in their hands, eyes darting between the groom and the man now standing tall amid the wreckage of frosting and shattered elegance.

Ethan Hale.

The name alone carried weight—billions in assets, global influence, a man whose signature could build empires or erase them overnight.

And he had just been shoved into a wedding cake.

The groom, Daniel Carter, staggered backward, his face draining of color as if someone had pulled the life right out of him.

“I—I didn’t know
” he stammered.

Ethan calmly wiped the last trace of cream from his jaw with a folded handkerchief. His movements were slow, precise—controlled. But his eyes? His eyes burned with something far colder than anger.

Disappointment.

“You didn’t ask,” Ethan replied, his voice low but cutting through the entire venue. “You saw a uniform and decided that was all I was worth.”

The bride—Sophia—stood between them, tears already streaming down her face.

“Daniel
you humiliated my brother,” she whispered, her voice shaking. “In front of everyone.”

Daniel turned to her desperately. “Sophia, I can fix this. I’ll apologize—”

“No,” Ethan interrupted, stepping forward. “You don’t fix this with words.”

He glanced around at the guests—the same people who had laughed moments ago, now avoiding eye contact.

“Respect isn’t something you perform when it’s convenient,” he said. “It’s who you are when you think no one important is watching.”

Daniel’s knees nearly gave out.

Ethan turned back to Sophia, his expression softening just slightly. “You deserve better than a man who builds himself by tearing others down.”

The wedding planner quietly stepped forward, unsure, trembling.

Ethan didn’t even look at her.

“This wedding is over.”

Those four words echoed like a final verdict.

And just like that, Daniel Carter lost everything.
