The silence in the kitchen stretched so long it felt like the world itself had stopped breathing.

The CEO’s hand slowly fell from the chef’s face.

“What… did you say?” His voice was no longer strong. It was fragile. Human.

The chef swallowed hard, her entire body trembling. Years of fear, humiliation, and silence pressed against her chest.

“I didn’t tell you before,” she whispered. “I thought you deserved a better life… without me dragging you down.”

The mistress let out a sharp, disbelieving laugh. “Oh please. This is pathetic. She’s lying.”

But no one joined her.

Not a single person.

Because the CEO wasn’t looking at the mistress anymore.

He was staring at the chef like he was seeing her for the very first time.

“Her name,” he said quietly. “What’s her name?”

Tears streamed down the chef’s face.

“You disappeared,” he said, his voice breaking. “I searched for you.”
