CHAPTER 4: THE FALL

Security approached him again.

This time, they didn’t hesitate.

“Mr. Marcus Hale, you are no longer authorized to remain on the property.”

His face twisted in disbelief.

“You’re throwing me out? Out of my own hotel?”

“No, sir,” the guard replied quietly.

“Out of hers.”

The words hit harder than any slap.

Guests whispered.

Phones came out.

Reputation—something Marcus had carefully crafted for years—

collapsed in seconds.

Behind him, the mistress panicked.

“What about me? My things—my jewelry—”

A staff member stepped forward.

“All personal items in the suite are registered under Ms. Isabella Laurent.”

The brooch.

The robe.

Everything.

Not hers.

Never hers.

Marcus reached for the door—

But it didn’t open.

Not until security escorted him.

Not until he stood exactly where Isabella had been.

Outside.

Powerless.
