Chapter 4: The Dinner

Cassandra smiled as she adjusted her dress.

“Big night?” she asked sweetly.

Marcus returned the smile.

“The biggest.”

The dining room was filled with guests—business partners, friends, influential figures.

Cassandra thrived in this environment. Admired. Untouchable.

Or so she thought.

Halfway through dinner, Marcus stood up, raising his glass.

“I want to thank everyone for coming tonight,” he began.

Cassandra beamed.

“And I’d like to share something important.”

The lights dimmed.

A screen lit up behind him.

Cassandra’s smile faltered.

The video began to play.

Lily.

The dog bowl.

The cold voice.

Gasps filled the room.

“No—” Cassandra whispered, her face draining of color.

But Marcus didn’t stop it.

He let every second play.

Every word.

Every moment.

Her mask shattered in front of everyone.
