CHAPTER 1: The Door That Closed

The soft click of the suite door echoed longer than it should have.
Elena Sterling didn’t move.
For a moment, the silence pressed against the walls—thick, suffocating, almost unreal. Then she exhaled slowly, her shoulders barely shifting beneath the lace of her wedding gown.
Nathan was gone.
Not just out the door—but out of her life.
Her eyes drifted toward the nightstand. The diamond ring caught the warm bedside light, glinting like a memory already fading.
Then—
Her gaze shifted.
Not to the door Nathan had used.
But to the other one.
The hidden door.
A faint smile curved her lips—not soft, not sad, but knowing.
Elena stood.
This time, there was no hesitation.
She walked across the room, her heels silent against the plush carpet, and pressed her hand against the panel. It opened with a quiet mechanical sigh.
Inside: a private office. Minimal. Precise. Waiting.
A single screen flickered to life as she entered.
“Voice recognition confirmed,” a calm system tone said. “Welcome back, Ms. Sterling.”
Elena’s expression sharpened.
“Activate Project Eclipse.”
The screen filled with files. Financial records. Surveillance logs. Corporate structures.
And one name, highlighted at the center of it all:
Nathan Brooks.
May you like
Elena tilted her head slightly, her voice barely above a whisper.
“Let’s see how you survive without me.”
