Ethan, Diane, Maya, Sofia, and Calvin remained at the diner because none of them wanted to compromise the search.
An investigator provided updates through Maya’s secure line.
Richard’s attorney objected at the gate and claimed the archive contained only private family records.
The judge’s order described the ledger specifically enough that the objection failed.
Inside the east wing, investigators found the archive door open and several shelves empty.
Martin Pike said the materials had been moved for protection after a pipe began leaking.
No plumber had been called, and the floor was completely dry.
The scheduled disposal truck arrived twelve minutes later.
Its driver presented an invoice signed digitally by Martin.
The truck was empty because it had not yet collected anything.
That fact prevented the worst outcome, but the black ledger was not in the archive.
Richard insisted it had never existed.
Lauren sent Ethan a private message while investigators searched the estate.

During wedding preparations, staff had used that corridor to carry flowers into the old wine cellar.
The cellar connected to a private tasting room beneath the champagne pavilion.
The pavilion remained decorated for a reception that would never happen.
Investigators entered through the service tunnel and found wet footprints crossing the stone floor.
The prints ended beside a locked oak cabinet.
Martin refused to provide the key.
The emergency order authorized the cabinet to be opened.
Inside were dozens of empty presentation boxes, Lauren’s wedding shoes, and the ceremonial signing folder Ethan had been expected to sign.

Investigators photographed every wheel mark and examined the catering cart for fibers or paper fragments.
They found traces of dried greenhouse soil on one wheel even though the cart had supposedly traveled only between the archive and kitchen.
The estate’s greenhouse had been locked since storm damage eighteen months earlier.
Martin claimed gardeners sometimes reused the cart, but the head gardener denied it.
Lauren’s suite contained a trail of crushed white petals leading toward a private staircase.
Those flowers differed from the roses used at the altar and matched arrangements prepared for the champagne pavilion.
Sofia explained that Lauren had personally changed the pavilion flowers the previous afternoon.
The change had created a reason for boxes to move between secured areas without attracting attention.
Ethan realized the wedding design itself had become part of the concealment plan.
Every arch, cart, and floral delivery gave someone an innocent explanation for carrying sealed containers.
The extravagance that impressed the guests also provided perfect visual noise.
Only staff members who knew the practical layout could separate normal movement from something unusual.
Maya asked the investigator to examine the folder before moving it.
Beneath the decorative marriage certificate lay the merger authorization exactly as Sofia had described.
Ethan’s signature line was already marked with a small removable tab.
Diane’s purported release was attached as proof that no competing ownership claim existed.
The discovery established a clear connection between the wedding and the disputed assets.
It did not reveal where Martin had taken the ledger.
At 4:02, a housekeeper approached investigators and asked for protection before speaking.
Her name was Nina Patel, and she had worked at the estate for nine years.
She said Martin had ordered her to carry a heavy floral box from the tasting room to Lauren’s bridal suite.
The box was no longer in the suite when investigators searched it.
Nina had noticed black leather beneath the flowers.
She had also seen Lauren leave through the garden gate ten minutes before the preservation order arrived.
Sofia checked the wedding transportation schedule.
