The judge allowed me to appear by secure video from the hospital.
Grant did not attend in person.
His attorney claimed he was receiving threats and feared for his safety.
No one mentioned that police were searching for him.
The attorney presented photographs of me unconscious after surgery.
He described my dependence on pain medication.
He argued that my grandfather’s power created an unsafe environment for the twins.
Then he played a short video.
It showed me shouting at Grant in our apartment two months earlier.
The recording ended before viewers heard why.
Grant had suggested selling the defective inventory to overseas clinics.
I had threatened to report him.
His attorney called my anger evidence of instability.
Margaret presented the complete recording.
The courtroom heard Grant admit that he knew some products were expired.
The judge’s expression changed.
Grant’s attorney objected.

She described my condition after the emergency C-section.
She described my presence beside the incubators.

“Has Ms. Hawthorne ever endangered her children?” the judge asked.
“No.”
“Has Mr. Keller?”
Dr. Morales paused.
“The investigation will determine criminal responsibility.”
She looked directly into the camera.
“But his decisions exposed those infants to defective medical equipment.”
The judge denied Grant’s custody request.
He suspended Grant’s authority to approve medical transfers.
He also ordered Grant to surrender his passport and disclose his location.
Grant’s attorney admitted he did not know where his client was.
The hearing should have felt like a victory.
Instead, an alarm sounded behind me.
Dr. Morales ran into the NICU.
Elise’s blood pressure had collapsed.
The stress on her heart had become critical.
