CHAPTER 5: THE WOMAN WHO WALKED AWAY

A week later, Andrew requested to see her.

Mariana agreed.

They met in a quiet office.

No audience.

No performance.

Just truth.

Andrew looked smaller.

Not physically.

But in every way that mattered.

“I didn’t know,” he said.

Mariana met his eyes.

“I know.”

That was the worst part.

He swallowed. “Can we fix this?”

Mariana was silent for a moment.

Then she spoke—

Not with anger.

But with clarity.

“I gave you everything,” she said. “Not because you deserved it… but because I believed in us.”

Andrew looked down.

“And you repaid that,” she continued, “by choosing pride over respect… control over partnership… and humiliation over love.”

Her voice never rose.

It didn’t need to.

“I lost nothing, Andrew,” she said softly. “I just stopped giving it to you.”

He had no answer.

Because there wasn’t one.

Mariana stood.

Walked to the door.

Then paused.

Not to look back—

But to close a chapter.

“You didn’t lose your empire,” she said quietly.

“You lost the person who built it for you.”

May you like

And then she left.

For good.
