CHAPTER 4: Confrontation

Days later, Isabella stood in the visiting room of a private legal facility.

Lucas sat across from her.

Disheveled.

Broken.

Unrecognizable.

“You planned this,” he said hoarsely.

Isabella tilted her head slightly. “No.”

She leaned forward.

“I prepared for it.”

Lucas laughed bitterly. “You loved me.”

A pause.

“Yes,” she said softly.

That hurt him more than anger ever could.

“Then why?”

Isabella’s eyes hardened.

“Because you mistook love for weakness.”

Silence filled the space between them.

“You could have had everything,” she continued. “Respect. Loyalty. A future.”

Lucas swallowed.

“And now?”

She stood.

“Now you face the consequences.”

He reached out desperately.

“Isabella—please—”

But she stepped back.

And for the last time…

She walked away from him.
