Chapter 2: Truth in the Spotlight

The man stepped fully into the light, and whispers began immediately.
“That’s him…”
“The host’s son…”
“The company heir…”
The glamorous woman’s face paled. “Daniel, you don’t understand—”
“I understand perfectly,” Daniel replied.
He turned to the waitress. “Are you hurt?”
She shook her head, though her voice trembled. “No, sir.”
“Good,” he said, his tone softening. “Because no one here has the right to hurt you. Not tonight. Not ever.”
The elderly woman smiled faintly, pride flickering in her tired eyes.
Daniel then faced the crowd. “This event was meant to celebrate unity, generosity, and respect. Yet somehow, we’ve allowed arrogance to walk freely among us.”
His gaze shifted back to the glamorous woman.
“You asked if anyone knows who you are,” he said. “But the better question is—do you know who you’re supposed to be?”
Her lips parted, but no words came.
For the first time, she looked unsure. Vulnerable.
“You weren’t raised like this,” Daniel continued. “And you won’t stay here tonight acting like this.”
Gasps filled the room.
“Are you… dismissing me?” she whispered.
“I’m asking you to leave,” he said firmly. “And to reflect.”
Tears welled in her eyes—not from sadness, but from the collapse of her pride. Without another word, she turned and walked away, her heels echoing hollowly against the marble floor.
The tension broke like a storm passing.
Daniel knelt slightly beside the elderly woman. “Grandmother, are you alright?”
She nodded, her voice warm. “I am now.”

Then she looked at the waitress.
“And so is she.”
