Hours passed like years.

The red light above the operating room stayed on.

Marcus sat alone, elbows on his knees, staring at the floor as if the world had collapsed beneath him.

Memories flooded him—

every moment he had ignored Khloe’s pain,
every time he dismissed her silence,
every look Isabella gave that he chose not to question.

“I failed her…”

The words barely escaped his lips.

the door opened.

The doctor stepped out.

Marcus stood so fast his chair fell backward.

“Your wife is stable.”

The world seemed to breathe again.

“And the baby?”

A pause.

Then a small smile.

“Your child is safe.”
