Lily sat on the edge of an oversized bed, dwarfed by luxury she clearly didn’t belong to.
Or thought she didn’t.
Adrian stood across the room, staring at an old photograph in his hand—his mother, smiling faintly, holding a baby wrapped in a red blanket.
A baby with the same eyes as Lily.
“I searched for you,” he said, voice tight. “For years.”
Lily looked up slowly. “No one ever came.”
The words cut deep.
Because someone had made sure no one ever could.
