CHAPTER 4 — The Arrest

The handcuffs clicked louder than any applause that had filled that house.
Julian struggled—not violently, but desperately.
“This is insane! She’s my wife!”
One detective responded coldly:
“And she’s not your property.”
Ofelia collapsed into a chair, her composure finally shattered.
“You don’t understand,” she whispered. “This family… this reputation…”
Ernesto turned to her.
“For years, I’ve listened to people like you,” he said.
“Protecting monsters… because it’s more convenient than facing them.”
Julian’s voice cracked.
“You have nothing on me.”
The detective lifted the evidence bag.
“We have your confession.”
Silence.
Real silence this time.
As Julian was led out, his eyes searched the room—
For support.
For loyalty.
For someone to still believe him.
No one did.
Outside, the flashing lights painted the mansion in red and blue.
