CHAPTER 3 — A NEW BEGINNING

A week later, I saw Daniel again.

Not in a boardroom.

Not in a mansion.

But in a quiet café across the street from the corporate tower he used to rule.

He looked… smaller.

Not physically.

But everything else.

Confidence gone.

Power stripped.

Reality exposed.

He stood when I approached.

“Elena.”

I sat across from him.

“You asked for ten minutes.”

He nodded quickly.

“I just— I needed to say something.”

I waited.

“I was wrong,” he said.

Simple.

Direct.

Too late.

“I didn’t see you,” he continued. “Not really. I saw what I wanted. What made me feel… superior.”

At least he was honest.

“I thought I built everything,” he added quietly.

I held his gaze.

“And now you know the truth.”

He swallowed.

“I lost everything.”

I shook my head slightly.

“No, Daniel,” I said calmly. “You gave it away.”

There’s a difference.

He looked down at his hands.

“Is there… any chance…?”

There it was.

Hope.

Fragile.

Foolish.

Gone.

“No.”

The word was quiet.

But absolute.

I stood.

Paused for just a moment.

Then said the only thing that mattered.

“I didn’t destroy your life.”

I met his eyes one last time.

“You did that the moment you chose someone who saw me as nothing… and agreed with her.”

I walked away.

No anger.

No regret.

Just clarity.

Outside, the city moved forward—cars, people, opportunity.

And so did I.

Because this was never about revenge.

It was about truth.

And finally—

May you like

Living a life where I was never invisible again.

THE END
