The Rising Phoenix

Six months later, the grand mansion was hosting another lavish party. Ethan and Chloe were celebrating their engagement, convinced that Evelyn had vanished into obscurity with no money or power. Chloe strutted around in a diamond necklace, boasting about her new status as the future matriarch of the family business.

Suddenly, the heavy oak doors of the ballroom swung open.

The chatter died instantly. Walking into the room was Evelyn. She wasn’t wearing the ruined white dress of a victim; she wore a sharp, tailored emerald-green suit. Her hair was perfectly styled, and her eyes held a chilling confidence. Behind her walked Julian Vance—the city’s most ruthless billionaire attorney and Ethan’s biggest corporate rival.

"Evelyn? What is the meaning of this?" Ethan demanded, his face turning pale.

"I’m just here to deliver a wedding gift," Evelyn smiled calmly, snapping her fingers. Julian handed Ethan a thick stack of legal documents.

"Those are divorce papers demanding 50% of your family’s estate," Evelyn announced, her voice echoing through the ballroom. "And right behind them is a criminal warrant for Chloe for attempted murder, backed by the hidden security camera footage from the grand staircase that you forgot your father installed before he passed."

Chloe panicked, her face draining of color as two police officers stepped into the foyer. Ethan tried to grab Evelyn's arm, begging for a private conversation, but Julian stepped in between them like an unbreakable wall. "Don't touch her," Julian warned coldly. "She is no longer someone you can disrespect."
