CHAPTER 4 — Power Redefined
The Chairman stepped forward one final time.
“This ends tonight,” he said.
Security paused—waiting.
Not for orders.
For judgment.
The mother-in-law dropped to her knees.
Not out of respect.
Out of desperation.
“Please… we’ll apologize. Publicly. We’ll fix everything—”
“You can’t fix what you believe,” he said.
Another pause.
Then, unexpectedly—
He turned away.
“Leave them,” he told security.
The room froze again.
Confusion spread.
Even his daughter looked at him, surprised.
“That’s it?” she asked softly.
He met her eyes.
“No,” he said. “This is worse.”
He gestured toward the crowd.
“They’ll live with what they revealed tonight.”
Reputation destroyed.
Respect gone.
All without another word.
Because sometimes…
