Within minutes, the lobby was no longer Ethan’s stage—it was his trial.
Hotel management gathered. Staff whispered. Phones discreetly recorded.
Ethan’s boss, Mr. Reynolds, rushed in, face pale. “What happened here?”
Before Ethan could speak, Elena answered.
“Your employee assaulted me,” she said calmly. “In front of your guests.”
Reynolds froze.
Ethan felt the ground vanish beneath him.
“Sir, I can explain—” Ethan began, but Reynolds raised a trembling hand.
“Don’t,” he said sharply.
Because he already understood.
Reynolds turned to Elena. “Miss Hart… please accept our deepest apologies. This will be handled immediately.”
Handled.
The word echoed like a verdict.
Ethan’s chest tightened. His career, his reputation—everything he built—was collapsing in real time.
But Elena wasn’t finished.
She stepped closer.
“Before anything is handled,” she said, “I want to know something.”
Ethan looked up, desperate.
“Do you treat everyone like this,” she asked, “or only those you believe can’t fight back?”
