CHAPTER 1: THE NAME THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING

The ballroom didn’t just fall silent — it suffocated.

“She’s my sister.”

The words echoed like a crack through glass.

Gasps rippled through the crowd as the young man slowly stood, still holding the silver crest in his trembling hand. His name was Ethan Vale — heir to one of the most powerful families in the city.

The little girl stared up at him, confused, her tear-streaked face pale.

The woman in blue laughed nervously, her confidence cracking.
“This is ridiculous. Ethan, you don’t actually believe—”

But he cut her off.

“This crest,” he said coldly, raising it for everyone to see, “is only given to direct blood members of the Vale family. There are no replicas. No exceptions.”

The room turned toward the girl.

“Who gave this to you?” Ethan asked softly, kneeling again.

“My mommy,” she whispered. “She said… if I ever felt alone, this would bring me home.”

Ethan’s breath caught.

“Your mommy… what was her name?”

“Lily.”

The name hit him like a bullet.

His long-lost sister.

The one his family said had died years ago.

Behind him, the woman in blue — Victoria Hale, his fiancée — went completely still.
