CHAPTER 3: The Night the Truth Fought Back

At the hospital, Emma finally let go of Christopher’s shirt.

Not because she was safe.

But because she had no strength left.

Machines beeped steadily as doctors worked around her fragile body.

Christopher stood outside the room, his hands still stained with dried blood and chlorine.

“I should have seen it,” he muttered.

The housekeeper placed the recorder in his palm.

“No,” she said firmly. “You were meant to hear it.”

Hours later, a police officer approached.

“She’s awake.”

Christopher stepped inside slowly.

Emma’s eyes found him immediately.

“…Dad?” she whispered.

His voice broke. “I’m here.”

She swallowed hard.

“She said… I didn’t belong here…”

May you like

Christopher took her hand, tears falling freely now.

“You belong everywhere I am.”
