Chapter 2: The Truth Unveiled

“I want a divorce.”
My voice was quiet, but it cut through the room.
Santiago turned to me sharply. “You think you can walk away from this?”
“No,” I said. “I know I can.”
My father’s lawyer slid another document across the table. “You will sign these tonight.”
“And if I don’t?” Santiago asked, his jaw tightening.
My father stepped closer, his presence overwhelming.
“Then by morning, every bank will close your accounts, every partner will withdraw, and every secret you’ve buried will be public knowledge.”
Silence.
Santiago looked at his mother.
For once, Beatriz had no answer.
The empire they built on cruelty and deception was already crumbling.
“You planned to take my child,” I said, my hands instinctively protecting my belly. “You planned to erase me.”
