Aiyana stood in the long corridor outside the ballroom, her reflection fractured across a row of antique mirrors that had survived everything—auctions, neglect, theft, time.
Now they reflected her.
Whole again.
Marcus approached from behind, his footsteps measured, respectful.
“The press is requesting a statement,” he said. “They’re calling it the collapse of a dynasty.”
Aiyana’s gaze remained fixed on her reflection.
“Dynasties don’t collapse,” she said softly. “They rot.”
Marcus didn’t respond. He didn’t need to.
“Prepare something minimal,” she added. “No names. No victory.”
He nodded and stepped away.

Later that evening, Aiyana walked through the restored study—the only room left untouched during the seizure years ago. Dust had been cleared, but the air still held memory.
She opened a drawer.
Inside, wrapped in aged velvet, lay old documents… and a photograph.
A younger version of her mother stood on the same balcony that overlooked the gardens, her expression calm, unknowable.
Aiyana traced the edge of the photo.
“You were right,” she murmured.
May you like
Power didn’t disappear.
It waited.
