They escorted Victor out in silence.

No cuffs. Not yet.

But everyone saw it.

The cameras. The whispers. The shift in power.

Claire sat in a private room upstairs, a cold compress pressed to her cheek. Nora paced like a storm.

“I told you not to provoke him like that,” Nora snapped. “He could have—”

“He did,” Claire said quietly.

Nora stopped.

Claire looked at her reflection in the mirror.

Bruised. Blood at the corner of her lip.

But her eyes—

Clear.

“He always would have,” Claire added. “Tonight just made it public.”

A knock at the door.

The same agent stepped inside.

“Ms. Hale,” he said. “We need to ask you a few questions.”
