CHAPTER 2: THE TRUTH THEY BURIED

The boardroom doors locked.
No one left.
No one dared.
The CEO’s hand trembled as she reached for the document. The moment her eyes scanned the first page, her face went pale.
“No…” she whispered. “This… this was destroyed.”
“It wasn’t,” the girl said. “She kept a copy.”
A legal agreement.
Signed.
Stamped.
Dated from twenty years ago.
A clause circled in red ink:
In the event of Elena Voss’s death or disappearance, her ownership shall transfer to her direct heir.
The room erupted.
“That’s impossible!”
“This would mean—”
“The company—!”
“Enough!” the CEO shouted.
Her voice cracked again—but this time, it wasn’t fear.
It was guilt.
“I thought she betrayed me,” she said, her voice breaking. “The night she disappeared… funds were missing. Data was gone. I believed she ran.”
“She didn’t run,” the girl said softly.
Every eye turned to her.
“She was taken.”
The words landed like a bomb.
The CEO staggered. “Taken…?”
The girl nodded.
“She found something. Something inside the company. Corruption. Theft. People using your systems for things you never approved.”
Murmurs grew louder.
“She was going to expose it,” the girl continued. “But someone found out.”
The CEO slowly turned toward the board.
For the first time, she wasn’t their leader.
She was their judge.
“Who?” she asked, her voice dangerously quiet.
No one answered.
But one man… tried to leave.
“Stop him.”

Security moved instantly.
The truth, buried for decades, was clawing its way into the light.
