Chapter 2: Breaking the Chains

The hospital room was quiet, filled only with the soft hum of machines and the steady rhythm of her breathing.

Days had passed since she left that mansion.

Days since the slap.

Days since everything changed.

Her father stood by the window, taking calls, issuing orders. Quietly. Efficiently. Ruthlessly.

The investigation moved fast.

Financial records were uncovered. Hidden debts. Illegal transactions tied to her husband’s family business. The perfect empire they flaunted began to crumble piece by piece.

“They built their wealth on lies,” her father said one evening, setting his phone down. “Now it’s collapsing under the truth.”

She didn’t respond immediately. Her hand rested gently over her stomach.

“I loved him,” she said softly.

“I know.”

“I thought
if I endured enough, things would change.”

Her father walked over, sitting beside her. “Love doesn’t demand suffering to prove its worth.”

Tears slid down her temples.

For the first time, she wasn’t crying from pain.

She was letting go.

Meanwhile, across the city, the husband’s world was falling apart.

Accounts frozen.

Partners pulling out.

Authorities knocking at the door.

And worst of all—silence from the one person he thought would always stand by him.

His mother.

Even she had begun to distance herself, her survival instincts stronger than her loyalty.

“You went too far,” she told him coldly. “You should have controlled yourself.”

He stared at her, disbelief turning into bitter realization.

This wasn’t love.

This was manipulation.

And now
 he was alone.
