Chapter 3 — A New Beginning

Morning light spilled gently across the estate, softening the grandeur of the night before.

The marble floor had been cleaned. The glass was gone. The stain of red wine erased.

But something else remained—something far more permanent.

In the garden, the heiress stood waiting.

No tiara. No elaborate gown. Just a simple dress, her hair loose, her expression uncertain but open.

When the maid approached, she paused a few steps away, as if still measuring the distance between them.

“You came,” the heiress said softly.

The maid gave a small nod. “You asked me to.”

A faint smile touched the heiress’s lips. “I wasn’t sure you would.”

“I almost didn’t.”

That honesty didn’t push her away—it drew her closer.

“I don’t know how to fix this,” the heiress admitted. “I don’t even know where to start.”

The maid studied her for a moment. “Maybe you don’t fix it,” she said. “Maybe you just
 start.”

The heiress let out a breath she didn’t realize she’d been holding.

“Then stay,” she said, the words careful, sincere. “Not as staff. Not as a guest. As
 family.”

The maid’s eyes widened slightly.

“That’s not something you can just decide overnight.”

“I know,” the heiress said. “But I can decide not to lose you again.”

The air between them shifted—still fragile, still uncertain, but no longer distant.

After a long pause, the maid stepped closer.

Not all the way. Not yet.

But closer than before.

“Okay,” she said quietly.

And this time, when the heiress looked at her, she didn’t see a mistake, or an interruption, or a threat to her perfect world.

She saw something far more powerful.

A second chance.

And as the morning light wrapped around them, it didn’t feel like the end of something.

It felt like the beginning of everything they had been missing.
