CHAPTER 2 â âThe Hidden Evidenceâ

Later that night, Michael sits alone inside the shelter office, staring at old archived files Emily brought forward.
Birth records. Hospital logs. Security footage fragments.
Proof that Ashley had intercepted communication years agoâerasing letters, blocking calls, rewriting timelines.
Emily stands in the doorway, exhausted but unwavering.
âYou didnât abandon us,â she says softly. âYou were kept away.â
Michaelâs hands shake as he reads the documents again. âShe built a wall between usâŠâ
Outside, Ashley is seen through the window, speaking sharply to the attorneys, her control slipping into frustration.
One attorney finally speaks back to her. âIf this evidence holds in court, your claim collapses.â
Ashleyâs expression hardensânot fear, but calculation.
She isnât finished yet.
But neither is Michael.
