CHAPTER 4: A Different Beginning

Three months later, the estate looked entirely different.
Not in structure.
But in spirit.
The marble floors still gleamed. The chandeliers still sparkled. But the tension—the quiet judgment that had once lived in the walls—was gone.
In its place was warmth.
Laughter.
Life.
Clara stood at the balcony overlooking the garden, a glass of champagne in her hand. Below, a small gathering of guests mingled beneath soft string lights.
This wasn’t a wedding.
It was a reopening.
A relaunch of the estate under her full vision.
And an announcement.
“You look happier.”
Clara turned at the voice.
Daniel Reyes leaned casually against the doorway, a familiar smile on his face.
He had been there that night—quietly observing as one of the estate’s business partners.
Unlike Andrew, he had seen everything.
And said nothing.
Until it mattered.
“I am,” Clara admitted.
Daniel stepped beside her, glancing out at the garden. “You handled that night better than most people would have.”
Clara laughed softly. “That’s because most people don’t spend years being underestimated.”
He raised his glass slightly. “Their loss.”
She clinked hers against his.
There was an ease between them. No pressure. No performance.
Just… respect.
After a moment, Daniel glanced at her. “So, what’s next for you?”
Clara looked out over the lights, the people, the future unfolding in front of her.
“Something honest,” she said. “Something that doesn’t require me to shrink.”
Daniel smiled.
“I’d like to be part of that,” he said.
Clara met his gaze.
And this time—there was no hesitation.
“Then don’t stand in the doorway,” she replied lightly. “Come join me.”
He did.
Below them, the music swelled.
Not a wedding march.
Something freer.
Something new.
And as Clara stepped forward into the life she had reclaimed, she realized something simple—and powerful.
She hadn’t lost a wedding.
She had found herself.

And this time…
She wasn’t giving that up for anyone.
