Minutes later, the room felt completely different.
No one spoke. No one dared.
The arrogant man now sat where the officer had been moments beforeâbut his posture had changed. Shoulders tight. Hands clenched. Eyes darting.
âLetâs be clear,â the officer said, pacing slowly in front of him. âYou werenât just disrespectful.â
She stopped.
âYou were careless.â
A tablet was placed on the table. A recording began to playâhis voice, loud and confident, spilling confidential information he never should have mentioned.
The same voice that had tried to humiliate her.
Now, it betrayed him.
The crowd exchanged glances. The shift was undeniable. Respectâonce absentânow filled the space like a quiet tide.
âYou set yourself up,â she continued. âAll I did⊠was give you time to finish.â
The man shook his head. âThis is a setupâthis isââ
âNo,â she said, calm as ever. âThis is accountability.â
He looked at her thenânot with arrogance, but with something closer to fear.
âYou knew?â he asked.
She met his gaze without blinking.
âI suspected,â she replied. âNow I know.â
