Chapter 1: The Silent Witness

He forced himself to watch every second.

Her careful movements.
Her steady breathing.
The way she smiled while stealing from him.

Not panic. Not hesitation.

Confidence.

That was what hurt the most.

“Rewind,” he said quietly.

The technician hesitated, then obeyed.

Again, the scene played—her fingers brushing over the velvet trays, choosing watches he had once gifted her, slipping them into her bag like they meant nothing.

Daniel leaned back slowly, his jaw tightening.

Years.

Years of building a life together.

And she walked through it like a stranger taking what she could carry.

“Sir… should we alert security?” the technician asked.

Daniel stood.

“No.”

His voice was calm now. Too calm.

“Let her finish.”

An hour later, she walked out of the building like nothing had happened.

Her heels clicked confidently against the marble floor.

She didn’t know he had already seen everything.

Didn’t know the man waiting for her at home was no longer the same man she had betrayed.

When she entered the house, she found the lights on.

Daniel sat in the living room.

Still. Silent.

Waiting.

Her smile faltered for half a second—but she recovered quickly.

“You’re still up?” she asked casually.

Daniel looked at her… not with anger.

But with something far colder.

“I was waiting,” he said.

And for the first time that night—

May you like

She felt it.

Something was wrong.
