CHAPTER 3 — The Truth Beneath the Empire

By dawn, the illusion had shattered.

The boardroom—Marcus’s battlefield—now belonged to someone else.

He stormed in, fury barely contained, only to find every seat already occupied.

No one stood.

No one greeted him.

At the head of the table sat Isabella.

Calm. Composed. Unshaken.

“You’re in my chair,” Marcus snapped.

She met his gaze evenly. “No. I was always in it.”

A senior attorney slid a thick folder across the polished wood.

“Original ownership structure,” he said quietly.

Marcus flipped it open.

Holding companies.

Trust layers.

Private family stakes.

Every signature.

Every controlling share.

All traced back… not to him.

But to Isabella.

Or more precisely—

Her family.

“For eleven years,” she said, her voice steady, “you managed an empire you never owned.”

“That’s impossible,” he hissed.

“You built the image,” she replied. “I built the foundation.”

The room was silent.

Then came the final blow.

A unanimous vote.
