Chapter 11 - The Greenhouse Map.
The map inside the greenhouse marked the route Elias drove every Sunday to visit Rachel's mother's grave.
Daniel knew grief could create predictable habits.
Elias's security team changed the route and canceled the visit.
Rachel objected.
"If he sees the cancellation, he'll know we found the greenhouse."
Brooks proposed a controlled convoy with Elias in an armored vehicle and officers along the cemetery road.
Elias refused to use his wife's grave as bait.
Rachel understood, but Daniel had already chosen the location.
Avoiding it would not make his plan disappear.
They compromised.
The convoy followed the usual route while Elias remained at a secure command post.
A remotely operated vehicle took his place.
At the narrow bridge before the cemetery, a maintenance truck pulled across both lanes.
The driver fled into the woods.
Officers found no explosive device, only a speaker playing Daniel's voice.
"You taught everyone to protect the wrong man."
At that exact moment, Whitmore Logistics headquarters reported a breach.
Daniel had never intended to attack the convoy.
He wanted security concentrated away from the company.
He entered headquarters using Martin's old recovery badge and reached the executive archive.
His target was not the 1998 file, already removed.
It was the original corporate trust establishing Rachel as successor if Elias became incapacitated or resigned.
Daniel needed proof that Rachel controlled voting shares.
With forged documents in her name, he could attempt to pledge those shares against Grayhaven debts.
The plan was desperate but potentially destructive.
Rachel joined Brooks at headquarters while officers searched floor by floor.
She recognized Daniel's pattern.
He always moved toward places that made him feel legitimate: her home, her father's company, her daughter's school.
"He'll be in the boardroom," she said.
The boardroom doors were locked from inside.
Through the glass, Daniel sat in Elias's chair with the trust document on the table.
He held no visible weapon.
Brooks ordered everyone back while negotiators established contact.
Daniel requested Rachel.
She spoke through the closed door from a protected position.
"This ends with you walking out."
"It ended when you opened that account."
"No. That was when I stopped pretending."
Daniel blamed Elias, Claire, Martin, the bank, and finally Rachel.
He described the kitchen incident as a reaction she had provoked.
Rachel did not debate him.
"Your choices belong to you."
The sentence seemed to leave him with nowhere to move.
He opened the trust document and revealed the second cipher plate taped inside.
The plate returned at the guest house had been a replica.
"I can still take everything," he said.
"The account is frozen."
"Not that account."
He held up Martin's encrypted audit server.
It contained evidence capable of exposing Grayhaven's partners, but Daniel threatened to erase it unless Elias entered alone.
Elias arrived at the security perimeter despite Brooks's instructions.
Rachel saw him and felt old fear rise.
Daniel wanted the imposing grandfather from that first night.
He wanted a final confrontation he could call persecution.
Rachel stepped between her father and the door.
"He doesn't get to write the ending."
Then the boardroom fire alarm activated.
Smoke poured beneath the doors.
