Elena brought Noah to her apartment, wrapping him in warmth, food, and silence. He ate slowly this time, watching her with cautious eyes.
That night, after he fell asleep, Elena opened the locket again.
The photo was taken ten years ago—the day her baby vanished from the hospital.
The police had ruled it a kidnapping. No suspects. No leads. No closure.
Until now.
The next morning, Elena called an old contact—Detective Harris, the only officer who had never truly given up on the case.
“You’re telling me you found a boy with the exact same birthmark?” Harris asked over the phone.
“And the locket,” Elena said. “It’s him. I know it.”
