Chapter 1: The Man Who Owned the Silence

The moment my father stepped inside, the air shifted.

Not subtly. Not gradually.

It broke.

Santiago’s confidence cracked first—just a flicker in his eyes, but I saw it. The same man who had towered over me seconds ago now stood frozen, like prey sensing something far more dangerous than itself.

“Good evening,” my father said calmly, removing his gloves. His voice didn’t rise, yet it carried through every corner of the mansion. “I believe I was not invited… but I do not require permission to enter what already belongs to me.”

Beatriz’s glass slipped slightly in her hand.

“What nonsense is this?” she demanded, though her voice trembled.

One of the attorneys stepped forward, placing a folder on the marble table.

“Grupo Salazar officially acquired controlling interest in Rivas Holdings at 6:42 PM today,” he announced. “All assets, including this property, are now under Mr. Ricardo Salazar’s authority.”

Silence.

The chandelier no longer trembled.

It felt like the entire house was holding its breath.

Santiago laughed—but it was hollow.

“That’s impossible.”

My father turned to him slowly.

“Nothing is impossible when your empire is built on borrowed money… and I decide to collect.”
