CHAPTER 1: THE MAN WHO WALKED IN

The air shifted the moment Ricardo Salazar stepped inside.
Power didn’t announce itself loudly—it arrived in silence. In control. In certainty.
Santiago froze.
For a man who had built his reputation on dominance, charm, and calculated intimidation, he suddenly looked… small.
“Valeria,” my father said, his voice calm but carrying the weight of authority that could collapse entire companies overnight.
My chest tightened. I hadn’t seen him in over two years.
Not since I walked away.
Not since I chose love over legacy.
“I’m sorry it took me this long,” he added quietly.
Santiago let out a forced laugh. “I think there’s been some kind of misunderstanding. This is a private matter—”
“No,” one of the attorneys interrupted, stepping forward. “It’s no longer private.”
A tablet was lifted.
The screen displayed the live footage from the hidden camera.
Every word.
Every threat.
Every raised hand.
Beatriz’s wine glass trembled in her grip for the first time.
“You’ve been recording us?” Santiago snapped, his voice cracking.
“No,” my father replied coldly. “She’s been protecting herself.”
Security moved closer.
Not toward me.
May you like
Toward them.
And just like that, the power in the room changed hands.
