CHAPTER 4: REBUILDING

I didn’t return to my old life overnight.

Healing doesn’t work like that.

Power doesn’t erase pain.

I stayed away from the spotlight, focusing on what mattered most.

My son.

When he was born, I held him close and whispered the same words I had that night on the marble floor:

“You’re safe now.”

My father kept his distance at first, respecting the boundaries I had created years ago.

But slowly, we rebuilt something stronger than before.

Not control.

Not expectation.

But understanding.

“I should’ve come sooner,” he told me one afternoon, watching his grandson sleep.

I looked at him and said something I never thought I would:

“You came when I was ready to stop surviving… and start fighting.”
