CHAPTER 4: THE TRUTH CARMEN FEARED

Everything unraveled fast after that.

Lina wasn’t just a random child.

She was Marisol Vega’s daughter.

And according to records…

Marisol had died in a fire twelve years ago.

But Lina told a different story.

“My mom didn’t die,” she said quietly. “She was taken.”

Taken.

By who?

The answer came like a blade.

“Carmen,” Sofia whispered.

Alexander closed his eyes briefly.

Then spoke with terrifying clarity.

“Carmen Robles is Marisol Vega.”

“But that’s impossible,” I said.

“No,” he replied. “It’s calculated.”

A new identity.

A fabricated death.

A complete disappearance… followed by reinvention.

“But why?” Sofia asked.

Alexander looked at Lina.

“Because she was building something,” he said. “And she couldn’t afford her past to follow her.”

Lina’s voice trembled.

“She said you were the only one who could stop her.”

Alexander’s expression hardened.

“She was right.”
