Healing wasn’t fast.

Drew flinched at sudden movements.

Lily hid food in her pockets.

But slowly, things changed.

Peter bought coloring books.

At first, Drew only used gray.

Then blue.

Then one day, Lily handed him a crayon and said, “Use yellow.”

And he did.

They laughed for the first time two weeks later—over spilled juice and a crooked pancake.

Peter didn’t clean it right away.
