Later, in the now-empty ballroom, the silence felt different.

Cleaner.

My father stood beside me as lawyers flipped through the contract Nolan had once flaunted like a weapon.

“Misconduct clause,” one of them said. “In the event of proven abuse, fraud, or criminal activity… all shared assets revert fully to the injured party.”

My father exhaled slowly.

“They wrote their own downfall into the contract,” he murmured.

“They never thought I’d fight back,” I said.

He turned to me then—not as a businessman, not as a strategist—but as a father.

“I should have seen it sooner.”
