Chapter 1: The Man Who Arrived with the Helicopters

The thunder outside grew louder.

Nathan frowned and walked toward the towering windows of Blackthorn Manor.

"What is this?" he muttered.

Three black helicopters descended onto the estate lawn, their blades whipping leaves into a violent storm. Moments later, a convoy of armored SUVs burst through the front gates without slowing.

The mansion doors swung open.

More than twenty men in dark suits entered in perfect formation.

No one carried weapons openly.

They didn't need to.

Their discipline alone commanded silence.

Standing at their center was an elderly man with silver hair, dressed in a perfectly tailored charcoal suit.

Nathan laughed nervously.

"And who exactly are you?"

The man ignored him.

Instead, he walked directly toward me.

His expression softened the moment he saw the blood soaking through my dress.

"My little girl..."

His voice broke.

He carefully knelt beside me.

"I'm sorry I came two minutes too late."

Tears filled my eyes.

"I'm okay, Dad."

"No," he whispered.

"You survived."

"That isn't the same thing."

Nathan stared in disbelief.

"Dad?"

The elderly man slowly stood.

Only then did he finally look at Nathan.

"My name is Richard Sterling."

Nathan's face lost every trace of color.

Richard Sterling.

Founder of Sterling International Holdings.

One of the wealthiest and most influential businessmen in the world.

The man newspapers called the invisible king because almost nobody had ever seen his family.

Nathan whispered,

"That's impossible..."

Richard answered calmly.

May you like

"You married my daughter."

"You simply never deserved to know."
