CHAPTER 4 — THE TRUTH THAT REMAINED

That night, Damian stood outside Montrose Global.

No security stopped him.

Because he was no longer a threat.

Just a man who had lost everything.

When Isabella stepped outside…

He almost didn’t recognize her.

Same face.

Same eyes.

But something had changed.

She was no longer asking to be seen.

She simply was.

“I didn’t know,” he said.

His voice cracked.

“I would’ve never—”

She raised her hand.

Not to strike.

To stop him.

“You did know,” she said quietly.

“You just didn’t care.”

Silence stretched between them.

“I loved you,” he whispered.

“I know,” she replied.

“And that’s why I stayed longer than I should have.”

He stepped closer.

Desperate.

“Isabella… please. We can fix this.”

She looked at him one last time.

Not with anger.

Not with hate.

But with clarity.

“There’s nothing left to fix.”

May you like

Then she turned…

And walked away.
