Chapter 13: Letters Never Sent

I started writing letters I never mailed.

Not to Daniel.

Not to Nathan.

Not even to my father.

These were different.

They were for the version of me who didn’t survive.

The girl who never made it to the phone.

The woman who never left the floor.

In one letter, I wrote:

You were never weak. You were outnumbered.

In another:

You were not silent. You were waiting for the moment it was safe to speak.

I kept the letters in a drawer inside my office.

Locked.

Not because I was afraid someone would read them.

But because they weren’t meant for anyone else.

Healing, I realized, wasn’t about forgetting.

It was about finally telling the truth—even if only to yourself.
