Chapter 1: The Truth He Demanded

The hum of the wheelchair stopped.
Every breath in the room seemed to vanish as the old man stood—fully, firmly, undeniably on his own two feet.
“No one moves,” he said, his voice steady but sharp enough to cut through the silence.
The man in the blue suit instinctively loosened his grip over the pregnant woman’s mouth. Her sobs broke free again, softer now, trembling with fear and relief.
“Grandfather…” someone whispered.
The old man’s eyes locked onto the young woman. “Let her speak.”
The room hesitated. Then, slowly, the man stepped back.
She staggered forward, clutching her stomach protectively. Tears streamed down her face, but there was something else now—courage.
“They tried to make me lie,” she said, her voice shaking. “About the baby… about what really happened.”
A ripple of shock spread across the table.
The older woman in the gold dress stiffened. “This is ridiculous. She’s emotional—”
“Silence,” the old man commanded.
He turned, his gaze sweeping across every face. “I built this family on trust. Tonight, I see nothing but deception.”
He pressed a button on a small remote in his hand.
The double doors behind him opened again.
And in walked a man holding a tablet.
