Chapter 2: Secrets Uncovered

The screen lit up.
Footage from earlier that evening played before them all.
There she was—the pregnant woman—standing near the staircase. The older woman approached her, smiling sweetly… until her expression twisted.
The video showed everything.
The shove.
The struggle.
And the moment the man in the blue suit stepped in—not to help—but to silence.
Gasps erupted across the room.
“That’s not—” the man started.
“Enough,” the old man said.
He stepped closer now, no longer a distant figure of authority—but a force of reckoning.
“I pretended to be weak,” he continued, his voice quieter now, but far more dangerous. “Because I needed to know who you really are when you think no one is watching.”
He turned to the pregnant woman again. “What is your name, child?”
“…Emily,” she whispered.
“Emily,” he repeated. “You will not be harmed in this house again.”
The older woman scoffed. “You’re choosing her? Over your own family?”
The old man’s gaze snapped back to her. “Family does not destroy its own.”
The man in the blue suit stepped forward, desperate. “Grandfather, you don’t understand—”
“I understand perfectly,” the old man interrupted. “You feared the truth.”
He gestured toward Emily.
“Tell them,” he said gently.
Emily took a shaky breath. “The baby… is your great-grandchild.”

Silence fell like a hammer.
The man in the blue suit went pale.
