Chapter 3: The Boardroom Shift

By noon, the board had assembled.

Emergency session.

Her stepmother arrived late—furious, disheveled, still wearing last night’s diamonds.

“She has no authority,” she snapped. “This is absurd.”

Then the doors opened.

And she walked in.

Same navy dress.

Same pearl earrings.

But this time, no one tried to remove her.

Elliot stood beside her, placing the documents neatly on the table.

“Ownership transfer verified,” he said calmly. “Effective immediately.”

The chairman cleared his throat.

“We’ll proceed with the vote.”

Her stepmother laughed—a brittle, desperate sound.

“You think this girl understands what she’s doing?”

She met her gaze.

“I understand enough.”

A beat.

Then she added, quietly lethal:

“You built your power on my absence.”

The vote was unanimous.

By 12:47 PM, her stepmother was no longer on the board.

By 1:03 PM, her access was revoked.

And by 1:15 PM, security escorted her out.
