Chapter 5: What Remains

Three weeks later—

The hospital room was filled with sunlight.

And the soft, steady sound of a newborn breathing.

Khloe held her daughter close, her fingers trembling slightly as she traced the baby’s cheek.

“She’s strong,” Dr. Hale said gently from the doorway.

“She had to be,” Khloe replied.

Marcus stood beside her.

Not in control.

Not dominant.

Just… present.

“What will you name her?” he asked.

Khloe smiled faintly.

“Hope.”

Because that’s what she was.

Not just survival.

Not just recovery.

But proof—

That even in the face of betrayal, cruelty, and near-destruction…

Something pure could still exist.

Something worth fighting for.

Marcus looked at them both, his voice quiet but certain.

“I won’t fail you again.”

Khloe didn’t answer immediately.

Instead, she adjusted the blanket around their daughter and said softly—

“Then prove it.”

Outside, the world continued chasing headlines and scandals.

But inside that room…

There was something far more powerful than revenge.

There was truth.

There was consequence.

And there was a second chance—

May you like

Not given freely.

But earned.
